Police: Gun Shot During Pizza Shop Robbery- East Haven Police Search For Two Men

EAST HAVEN. -- An armed man fired a gunshot inside the Domino's Pizza shop on Route 80 late Saturday night as another man looked on, police said.

A store employee told police that one of the men brandished what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun before going behind the counter and demanding money from the safe at about 11:45 p.m.

East Haven investigators said one of the men dragged the clerk to a back office and threatened to shoot him if he didn't provide money. Police said the other man acted as a lookout. At some point, police said one shot was fired, but no one was hit.

Police said the clerk struggled with the armed man, who left in a silver or white Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police did not specify how the second man left the scene. No money was taken.

Police described the armed man as Hispanic, in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a camouflage coat with orange-colored lining, a black knit hat, a mask and gloves.

The second man was also described as Hispanic, in his early teens, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, 120 pounds.

If you have information regarding this continuing investigation, contact East Haven police by dialing 203-468-3820.
