Norwich man used shotgun in weekend robbery, police say

Norwich, Conn. - A Norwich man who police said wielded a shotgun during a robbery at his own apartment Saturday faces multiple felony charges.

Jamel Young, 37, of 251 Laurel Hill Ave., No. 3, is charged with first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, criminal use of a weapon and other charges in connection with the incident.

Police said Young had made arrangements to sell his car to an adult male victim.

At Young's apartment, police said Young threatened the would-be buyer with a shotgun and stole the several hundred dollars being used to pay for the car, police said.

Norwich police patrol officers stopped and arrested Young shortly after Saturday's incident and also recovered the shotgun, police said.

Held on $99,000 bond, Young is scheduled to appear July 3 in Norwich Superior Court, according to court records.

Police said Young had made arrangements to sell his car to an adult male victim.
